The falling price of digital copiers
Digital color copiers are more popular than ever, but that doesn't necessarily mean equipment is increasing in price. Konica Minolta has come out with the ColorFORCE 8050 which is listed at just under $45,000. The Riso HC5000 is even less at $40,000 for a digital duplicator capable of 105 ppm.
The HP Indigo 1050 is $159,000 for a machine that will produce up to 8,000 color pages an hour. The point of this entry is not to give you a laundry list of machines at reasonable prices. It is to drive home the idea that color is more affordable than ever.
''The average total cost of operation [for digital copiers] with monthly print volumes of 200,000 impressions has fallen by 35 percent,'' wrote David Davis in a recent article for Instant & Small Commercial Printer.
Used Xerox DocuColor, DocuPrint, and DocuTech equipment is literally becoming more affordable every day. The Xerox DocuColor 6060 and Xerox 2060 have been driven down in price by the introduction of the Xerox iGen3 and Xerox 8000.
If you're considering color equipment, consider JJ Bender for reasonable prices.
