Lasermax Roll Systems in tandem with Xerox developed the DocuSheeter NV. The DocuSheeter NV which consists of an unwind, cutter and sheet transport, feeds sheets to the Xerox Nuvera 100, 120 or 144 Digital Production Systems. It has got some amazing advantages:

It can cut sheets from a large 50'' diameter roll and feed them to the Nuvera when required. This will increase throughput while at the same time lowering downtime, paper costs and operator involvement.

A reliable sheet transport which feeds sheets into the leftmost feeder module of the Nuvera when required. No buffer means no waste when changing applications.

Flexibility: With the DocuSheeter NV, both 8.5 x 11 and 11 x 17 applications can be run from the same 11'' wide rolls. Similarly, both A4 and A3 applications can be run from the same 297mm wide rolls.

The unwind is user-friendly and has certain additional benefits like automatic decurling, no-lift roll mounting, and a self-centering design.

IBM makes a play in the digital production market

Danit Lidor's recent article in a Forbes Business Newsletter discussed the new prominence of IBM in the digital color market. She talked about the IBM InfoPrint 4100 and the recent software launch in the past three months as IBM looks to grow, what is quickly become a billion-dollar business.

Lidor focused on two new software pieces, InfoPrint Transform Manager and Print Services Facility.

"The automation technology, called virtualization, is built into the company's Infoprint Transform manager for Linux and the latest release of its Print Services Facility (PSF). The software allows large companies that print thousands of documents a minute to streamline the production process," explained Lidor in her piece.

The launch of the new software signals IBM's transition from just providing copiers or printers to providing complete end-to-end solutions which are focused on networking capability and designed for commercial printers.
