An astonishing 80 percent of the waste generated including Xerox iGen3 toner can be returned to Xerox, reused, or recycled. In addition, the Xerox iGen3 dry ink is non-toxic and has a transfer efficiency rate of close to 100 percent, thus less waste is generated.

Xerox Wide-Format Print Provider Update

The options available to wide-format print provider just got a lot...well, wider.

Xerox announced an update for the Xerox 8160 and 8142 Wide Format Color Printer server and three new media selection tools. The upgradedc server allows for the retention of job settings and better color proofing as well as added image rotation capability.

The new media tools include the Xerox Wide Format Swatchbook, which shows paper samples with regard to compatibility and operating instructions. The Online Selector Tool offers the best media for a given job based on the application and ink being used. The Wide Format Paper and Speciality Media Display Graphics Applications Guide looks at at matching paper to image quality according to established procedures.

These tools should greatly improve the functionality of Xerox Wide-Format Printers and offer valuable resources for printers looking to gain on-the-job experience.

Epic Cti-635 inline coater for the Xerox iGen3

While trying to establish the Xerox iGen 3 and the Xerox iGen3 110 production press as the premier digital option for commercial printers, Xerox continues to roll out new features this year. The Epic Cti-635 is an inline coater which connects directly to the press. It's seen as the evolution in the printing process, rendering each step digital. IC-301 Image Controller- A Creo and Konica Minolta

The IC-301 is one of the first jointly developed products from CREO and Konica Minolta and provides a front-end for the brand new, digital copier- the bizhub PRIO C500.

Introduced in October of 2005, the IC-301 allows users to automate the printing process and take advantage of the capacity of the Konica Minolta c500. This is the fourth controller for the high volume copier, one internal (IP-921) and three external controllers.

It's a way to manage job ticketing and allows uers to monitor and control print jobs. The controller features 3.2 GHz Intel Pentium 4 processor, 1.28 GB system memory, 80 GB hard drive system, and two 80 GB hard drives for ready-to-print job storage.

The New Guy on the Block: Oce VarioPrint 2110

Oce has thrown its hat in the high volume, digital color duplicator ring with the Oce VarioPrint 2110. At the Print '05 & Converting '05 show in Chicago last month, a lot of buzz surrounded the latest addition to the VarioPrint series.

The VarioPrint 2110 is a workhorse designed for commercial printers, who have greater expectations for quality and quantity. It can print up to 105 pages per minute and has a maximum capacity of 4,600 sheets. This is seen as Oce's answer to the large box Canon and Xerox equipment, think Xerox 6060, possibly even a Xerox iGen3. The Oce 2110 is designed to handle between 150,000 and 300,000 impressions per month; but Oce claims it can handle up to 1 million impressions.

The color digital market is heating up and all that competition is healthy for consumers, leading to the possibility for increased margins and potential savings on new technology.
